About Hastings Stewardship Council - Winter Speaker Series 2019
Birds and our Backyard Habitat with Doug McRae
This winter, has bird watching kept you sane? For crying out loud, it’s minus 25 out again! So, fire up the stove, sit with morning coffee and watch the birds at the feeder. This seminar can help boost our morning bird fix.
On March 28, Doug McRae, expert birder, will demonstrate how to attract and identify birds near home, and how to enhance backyard habitat to make a safe place for birds and other wildlife. This is the final event in the Hastings Stewardship Council, 2019 Winter Speaker Series.
Discover how to arrange plantings to best see the wildlife and how to create effective habitat such as brush piles to help provide food and cover for birds and animals. Learn about feeders, bird houses, bird baths and plantings. Doug will bring bird specimens from the Royal Ontario Museum for examination. Children will love this activity.
Doug is a skilled birder based in the Presqu’ile area. He is a bird bander, and he spent 20 years guiding birding tours world-wide, and ten years on a shorebird research study.
Join us on Thursday, March 28 from 7 to 9 pm at the Community Hall, 11379 Highway 62, in Ivanhoe, north of Belleville. The cost is $5 (or a donation); children are free. For more information, contact Ray Wellman at 613-848-7697 or email@example.com. Also visit hastingsstewardship.ca.
