MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PROTECTION TO PERSONS AND PROPERTY COMMITTEE HELD ON JANUARY 22, 2008

The meeting was called to order by the Chair.

 

DELEGATION

 

Steve Coffey, John Parker, and Vince Brennan Stirling Curling Club attended to review proposed amendments to agreement between the Arena Board, Stirling Curling Club and the Township of Stirling-Rawdon.

 

 

FIRE CHIEF’S  REPORT

“The Committee recommends that Stirling-Rawdon Fire Department be given approval to host the course entitled ‘Introduction to Incident Management’ in April.”

 

The Fire Chief advised of a Mutual Aid meeting being held February 6, 2008 at the South Fire Hall at 8 p.m.  He invited all Council Members to attend.

“The Committee acknowledges receipt of a Final Draft Report dated January 4, 2008 from Rebanks Pepper Littlewood Architects Inc. entitled Township of Stirling-Rawdon Police, Fire & Municipal Offices Needs Assessment Study & Accommodation Strategies

 

and further recommends that the same be received as information.”

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

 

Municipal Building Accommodation

 

The Clerk advised that he had been in contact with Rebanks Pepper Littlewood Architects Inc. and that for no extra charge they will determine the size of building that would be viable to construct on the current Police, Fire, and Public Works property if the Police / Fire building was to be demolished.

“The Committee recommends that the Fire Chief be instructed to determine the work required to retrofit the current Public Works facility to accommodate the Fire Department

 

and further that the Public Works Manager be instructed to determine the work required to retrofit the former MTO building to accommodate the Public Works Department

 

and further that two quotes be acquired for the determined work for information purposes and possible grant application.”

“The Committee recommends that the February meeting of the Protection to Persons and Property and the Finance and Personnel Committees be held on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 starting at 9 a.m.

 

and further that Council be held on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 at 7 p.m. due to the new Family Day statutory holiday.”
