CIP Purpose

This Community Improvement Plan (CIP) establishes a framework for the Township’s support and implementation of a program to encourage the maintenance and rehabilitation of commercial buildings and their facades as well as associated signage in the Business Improvement Area (BIA) of the Township of Stirling-Rawdon. The CIP will enhance the role of the downtown core as a commercial, administrative and cultural centre as well as a Vintage Village. The CIP also provides a framework to encourage and support the redevelopment of vacant, underutilized and/or contaminated properties and buildings known as “brownfields”.

    Facade & Signage Improvement Program

Since the Township of Stirling-Rawdon has created the Façade and Signage Improvement Area Commercial Property Improvement Grant/Loan Program we have seen substantial improvements to many business locations in the downtown area. This has noticeably increased traffic within the downtown and attracted new customers to these unique venues.

Within the past three years the municipality has approved approximately 20 Grant/Loan applications and we are very excited that business owners are taking advantage of this opportunity. The facade and signage applications are added to the agenda of the Economic Development meeting each month and approved by the committee if applicants meet the necessary requirements.

This program has been very successful and has continued to create interest with investors when it comes to opening a new business in Stirling. The Municipality looks forward to continuing this program and improving the look of the downtown area.
